I’m a British sociologist and writer living in Nipaluna/Hobart, on the lands of the Muwinina people.
I pay respect to the Muwinina as the traditional and original owners of this land, and pay respect to those that have passed before us.
I also pay respect to and acknowledge today’s Tasmanian Aboriginal people – the Palawa / Pakana – who are the continued custodians of this land. I honour the elders and leaders – past, present and emerging – who have held ground and continued culture on this never ceded land.
